6 Powerful Tactics to Make Your Dollar Store Merchandise Displays Sell
With so many tasks to perform there just never seems to be the time to do everything when you own a dollar store. Yet there are some simple tasks that must be consistently performed if you hope to make dollar store profits. One of the most important of those must-do tasks in managing your dollar store displays. In this article I present 6 powerful tactics to accomplish that mission critical tasks in your store.
#1 - Always display merchandise using the 'striping' strategy for display. Striping is a simple display technique to use when you own a dollar store. All you do is stock in a straight line from the top of a display to the bottom. Everything that hangs on peg hooks should be striped. Most other dollar store merchandise should also follow this practice. Just place items displayed on shelves in a row from top to bottom.
#2 - Bulk displays of dollar store merchandise must be continually managed to maximize sales. If you own a dollar store don't allow bulk displays to become eyesores for your store. Once you've created a bulk display of merchandise there is still maintenance to be done. Pull items down and out to make it easy for shoppers to obtain the items they seek to purchase.
#3 - Fill the gap created by items that are sold. All merchandise that sells will create a gap where the item originally sat. That means you need to pull items forward as they sell when you own a dollar store. If there is back stock on an item sales create the opportunity to move items from the stockroom to the sales floor.
#4 - As merchandise sells down always pull up and down to cover for the decrease. Your goal is always to keep the bulk of your merchandise at eye level for your shoppers. It's better to have empty space at the very top of the very bottom of an area. Make sure you maintain an area from child height to tall adult height that is constantly filled with merchandise. Since shoppers will scan from side to side before they will move their head up and down to see items, you are maximizing the potential for sales following this process.
#5 - If sales outstrip the arrival of merchandise and there are obvious gaps and no dollar store merchandise back stock, then it's time to get more creative. Use empty space to post store signs. It's important that this situation become a lesson in under-ordering as well. As you'll soon discover if you own a dollar store, customers will begin to become cautious about your store. They will begin to fear that your store is in-trouble or will be closing your store down forever.
