Resumes For New Teachers

Writing a resume for a new teacher can be quite a problem. How to compensate for a lack of experience when the actual kind you need is only found on the job? Well, there is substitute teaching, which really prepares you for a teaching career since it is on the fly so to speak. But outside of this, how do you properly word a resume to attract attention when there isn't an adequate background of past employment to draw upon?

There are two ways to accomplish this, the first being to write a profile summary indicating your skills and past successful experiences relevant to this position. The other would be to put education as a larger part of the resume since the coursework just completed contains the most recent theories and techniques of the modern educational system. In this way, a school district could guarantee that their students are learning material that is applicable to the real world and not just outdated textbook rhetoric.

Use language to suggest different courses and their importance to the particular field of study. A Science teacher for example might use application classes in chemistry for example to show he is well equipped to handle that subject. He could also include class management and psychology to provide of his worthiness to handle the teen adolescent. But the choice is ultimately yours. Make sure to play to your strengths when composing the resume. It is your biggest selling point and should always be thought of that way. Good luck!
